AIMgen is an evolutionary psychology market research laboratory and an initiative of Jan Guus Waldorp and Marie-Anne Simons. After 13 years of research, they started the AIMgen Lab in 2009, focusing on developing innovative applications in the field of human emotion and motivation. Besides evolutionary psychology, they have over 20 years of experience in marketing and communication.
Waldorp and Simons currently hold a position as researchers at the University of Groningen (UMCG) for their advanced degree (PhD) in evolutionary psychology for improving customer commitment and loyalty.

Evolutionary psychology provides the world of market research with a theoretical basis for a new motivation test method of the 21th Century.
Motivational traits reflect the dynamics of behaviour, accounting for why we do what we do and how decisions are made. Based on adaptational principle of evolutionary psychology we were able to map the main dynamic variables of behaviour and develop an innovative method and a visual test to measure these.
Our Evolutionary Motivation Indicator Test (EMIT), based on the handicap principle of Amotz Zahavi’s theory of costly signalling and reliable fitness indicators, helps you to get an insight in your clients motivations and understand and predict their behaviour.
The test results are translated in our Motivation Maps and Reports to support your marketing strategy to find innovative solutions for communicating with your clients and further develop and improve products and services that answer to their needs and desires.
